Clay angels... very broad subject?
Have you ever wondered how to make a clay angel? The beginning of my adventure with ceramics was full of such and other questions. The moment when you pick up a piece of wet mass and you really don't know what to do with it... Tabula rasa. This is where the new life of an angel or other ceramic figure begins. Imagination starts working, ideas are born in the head and hands do their job.
My first clay angel.
He was similar to my dad. I gave "dad" quite quickly to someone who was delighted :) It helped me believe that I can deal with handicrafts seriously. I owe my dad a lot: self-confidence, faith that good not only returns, but also travels among us. It wanders enclosed in a clay angel figurine, along with the intention, energy or wish we want to convey.
Angel for a gift?
On a bookshelf or on a windowsill between flowers, there will always be a place where a sitting angel can make himself comfortable. Hanging angels can decorate an entrance to a house, or walls above a bed, above a desk, above a fireplace… The best gifts are figurines of angels, the good spirits of our homes. The most wonderful are handmade, single pieces, unique ceramic angels, wooden angels, porcelain angels…
Handmade gifts are always a tribute to the uniqueness of the recipient. By giving someone something unique, we emphasize an originality of a person for whom a gift is made. The angel symbolizes care, good thoughts and good wishes. This is probably the best gift.
Do angels live their lives?
Angels move from hand to hand, they live in our homes, sometimes for a while, sometimes longer. They watch our lives. They want to make us happy, give us comfort, give us courage. We can only be part of their path. The concept of an angel today is slightly different than it used to be. We are departing from the religious meaning. We like angels with human faces - the more honest, the better. We meet ceramic angels, grandfathers, cherub child angels, housekeepers, doctors' angels. We give them to loved ones on various occasions: an angel for Christmas, an angel for communion, an angel for Valentine's Day, an angel for mother, grandmother, beloved girl... Angels on Covid 19, angels reading books or angels on the go were created in my studio.
Today, an angel figurine can be funny, it can be dedicated, it can be not very obvious, symbolic in form and expression. In my house, angels fly, suspended from the ceiling, on the walls, sitting on a shelf next to the radio, listening to music. Each of the figurines has its own story and memories that it awakens. Maybe the real ones that really lead me through life move between them?
